Charity

The Daisy Garland
A family-run national children’s charity providing active support for children with drug-resistant epilepsy and their parents/carers. The charity was set up in memory of our daughter Daisy who tragically died at 6 years of age from SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in epilepsy patients). We provide NHS hospitals with ketogenic dietitians - a medically recognised and accepted way of treating drug resistant epilepsy. This diet is not widely available on the NHS due to lack of funding. We also provide grants for night-time breathing monitors to children with drug-resistant epilepsy.

Hi, thanks for visiting my page, and (hopefully) helping the Daisy Garland by sponsoring my husband, Warren, and me on our walk.

What we're doing:

We'll be walking from Birmingham to our house. It might sound like a random choice, but it's not - it's the Grand Union Canal, from top to bottom. It's around 150 miles in total, including the diversions we'll need to make every day to find somewhere to sleep, and we'll be doing it in a week - i.e. about 20 miles a day. For the youngsters / Europeans, that's around 240km, or about 32km a day.

Who we're doing it for:

The Daisy Garland (http://www.thedaisygarland.org.uk/) is an organisation that helps children with drug-resistant epilepsy by fuDonate nownding dieticians to provide an option where drugs simply haven't worked. It helps their parents as well, by providing not only emotional support but also night-time breathing monitors that can allow parents to have their first good night's sleep in years. They supported my closest friend when her daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy, and they have some amazing success stories.

They are a small charity and will really appreciate any donation you can make.
