Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions. Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) aims to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young. John Barrowman - fundraising in memory of Tom

Tom Reid, who was a huge fan of John Barrowman's, died of sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (SADS) in 2009, aged 19. Tom had met John at a book signing a while back.
Halina and Antony, Tom's mum and dad, e-mailed John to explain what had happened to Tom. He had been out with friends when he began to feel unwell, saying that his heart was beating very fast. Tom collapsed and, despite the best efforts of the emergency services and hospital staff, he could not be resuscitated.
After speaking to Halina and Antony (pictured), and sharing some of their memories of Tom, John has very kindly offered his support and has become a CRY Patron.
