Hi, thanks for visiting my page.

Five years ago if anyone had asked me if I would run a marathon I would have said "not a chance", however 5 years ago life in the Crisp household changed dramatically.

In January 2007, at the age of only 42, my wife Lynne, was diagnosed with very aggressive triple negative Breast Cancer.

Five years on, Lynne is 'fighting fit' and has faced the challenges before her with an amazing spirit and humour that defies the pain and anguish that she and all cancer sufferers go through - she is an amazing woman and a true inspiration to me and our wonderful children!

2012 is a significant year, not only as it is Olympic Year, but because it is 5 years since Lynne's diagnosis and 5 years was always her first major milestone!  So last summer our 19 year old son Robert said "Dad, why don't we apply for the London Marathon".  After thinking about the daunting level of training required and the old injuries I carry around with me, things came into perspective and I thought if Lynne can go what she has gone through with the dignity and character she has shown, then a marathon should be nothing more than a 'walk in the park'.  Needless to say that I got a marathon place and unfortunately Robert did not - fate, however we have pledged to run one together in the future.

On 22nd April I will be running my first marathon, with Lynne as my inspiration and aim to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, a dedicated breast cancer charity, whose mission is to save lives through enabling and ensuring access to improvements in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

I will also be doing the 'Water of Life' Half Marathon on 25th March and the Reading Half Marathon on 1st April.

Thanks for reading and thanks for your support.

Cheers

John
