UWMFC - From Boundary Park to Anfield

Joseph Weston

My page:

In the early hours on Friday 17th March, a group of morons from the University of Warwick Men's Football Club will set off from the home of Oldham Athletic to embark on a 39 mile slog on foot to the universal home of football, Anfield. We are aiming to complete this ultramarathon in under 12 hours (hopefully much less) to raise money for Mind - The Mental Health Charity, and Mesothelioma UK.

Mind are a charity that provide support and advice to those struggling with mental health issues. This charity has particular importance to me due to the struggle with mental health that my dad went through, which eventually lead to him taking his own life in 2013. Suicide is the most common cause of death for men between the age of 20-49 in England and Wales, a statistic that most people are unaware of. The UWMFC aim to help raise awareness and change perceptions about mental health.

Mesothelioma UK provides assistance to sufferers of mesothelioma, a type of cancer that usually develops in the chest and is caused primarily by exposure to asbestos. This remains a health concern for many people, and Mesothelioma UK offers excellent care and support to patients and their friends and family. We hope to make a contribution to support their continued efforts to improve treatments and awareness of mesothelioma.

These are both charities that are close to the hearts of our club members, and any donations would be greatly appreciated.
