WaterAid
WaterAid is an international charity. Our mission is to overcome poverty by enabling the world’s poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education. For a gift of just £15 WaterAid can enable one person in Africa or Asia access to these basic services.

Julie Lawrence Bamboo Bike Odyssey

Hi,

In visiting this page you are participating in a journey with my equally (some would say) crazy partner Li.

We will ride 2 lovingly handmade bicycles handcrafted in bamboo. Yes......yes, bamboo..... for the many people who ask twice. We will ride from London to Sydney, not the whole world but a fair chunk of it. We will experience hardship and issues of poor sanitation, through informed choice.

Please take a moment to consider what a life with limited water and sanitation is like, and sponsor me through this page. In my own way I am aiming to bring visibility to the issues surrounding lack of water for some of the world poorest communities and in particular the impact this has on women.

I am supporting WaterAid UK while I am resident here. I chosen this charity because they have offices and work internationally and have an honourable ethos. I recommend checking out their web sites and you can find out what they are doing in the UK, Australia and everywhere in between.

By sponsoring me on this page, donations can quickly be processed and passed on to Water Aid. Virgin Money Giving is not for profit and if you are donating from the UK can gift aid on Water Aids behalf.

For more details on how we built or bikes, the tour and challenges thrown our way please visit our blog.

Any travel tips and words of encouragement most welcome.

Many Thanks

Jules
