For the last 15 years, Prostate UK and Prostate Cancer Research Foundation have been raising money to fight prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostatitis. As Prostate Action, we will build on this work. We fund research and education to beat prostate disease.

JUST RUNNING FOR RON

Thanks for taking the time to visit my page.
A very close family friend, Ron Gardner, sadly passed away on 26th November 2010 after losing his battle to cancer. In loving memory of Ron and on behalf of my chosen charity, Prostate UK, I am pledging to run the 2011 Virgin London Marathon.
Ronald E Gardner (Ron) was a proud Welshman from Aberystwyth. He was a veterinary surgeon graduate of Edinburgh University, initially practising in Wales where he was also a member of local skiffle group The Streamline Gamblers who covered the famous Johnny Duncan song "Last Train to San Fernando" .
His love of music was lifelong with a special love of Elvis. He visited "Graceland" several times and built an impressive Elvis record collection. He also loved his Harley Davidson Motorcycle which he rode regularly, and took many trips across Europe and also across the infamous Route 66.
Ron was a gifted Vet and had his own Veterinary practice in Leyton since 1974. Ron was being treated for Prostate nodules for a few years, but last year developed cancer which rapidly spread to other areas which could not be cured. It was awful to see someone who lived and loved life so much come to such a tragic end.
Ron leaves a loving wife Nora, son Garedd, daughter Michelle, four grandchildren, many colleagues who were also friends and many many other longstanding friends among who we count ourselves. ... Oh and also a much loved Harley Davidson motorcycle. We love and miss you Ron XXX
Prostate UK is the only national charity dealing with all three prostate diseases; prostatitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer. One in two men will be affected at some stage in their lives.
Prostate UK's mission is to stop prostate diseases ruining lives and they do this by providing free information, training GPs and healthcare professionals, funding research and raising awareness. They do all this without any government funding which is why we need your help.
