Charity
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Foundation is a UK-based charity dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals. Like humans, animals are capable of suffering and have interests in leading their own lives; therefore, they are not ours to use - for food, clothing, entertainment, experimentation or any other reason. PETA and our affiliates around the world educate policymakers and the public about cruelty to animals and promote an understanding of the right of all animals to be treated with respect. PETA works through public education, research, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement and protest campaigns.

Karli & Ashleigh Help Spare The Bears
Hi!
Thanks for visiting our fund raising page!
On Saturday 14th July 2012, we (Karli and Ashleigh) will be taking part in PETA's Spare The Bears March in London.
The march will involve us walking 5KM through Central London, past some of the capitals most famous landmarks.
The walk is to protest the killing of bears for fur, which is used for Royal Guards headwear. This 'tradition' is outdated and needs to be replaced by a more up to date, morally right, faux fur alternative.
It can take the entire hide of one Canadian black bear to make just one cap. Bears can be shot several times before they die, and some escape and bleed to death. In some Canadian provinces, there are no restrictions on the shooting of mothers who have nursing cubs, leading to the slaughter of entire families during hunts.
We need to send a clear message to the Ministry of Defence that the slaughter of wildlife for The Queen's Guards' ceremonial headwear is unacceptable and that the time has come for them to go fake for the bears' sake.
For more information on the cause, visit the PETA UK website or google 'PETA Spare the Bears'
We would like to raise £200, as we hope this is an achieveable target, however any amount we can raise would be fantastic. If we can raise more than this, that would be amazing!
We would truly appreciate ANY donation you can give, whether it may be 10p or £100. Every penny counts and goes towards such a worthwhile cause.
