The Jewish Leadership Council
The Jewish Leadership Council comprises the heads of the major institutions in each sector of UK Jewish life together with individual communal leaders. The Council exists to strengthen the major institutions of British Jewry, to promote cooperation between them and to articulate a confident and compelling narrative of Jewish life in the United Kingdom. Women account for only one fifth of communal leadership roles in the Jewish Community. Our job, as the JLC Commission on Women in Jewish Leadership is to address this by listening then taking action. This issue matters desperately as we cannot, as a small community, continue to see anyone under-utilised. To succeed, our organsations must retain the skills, time, determination, experience, money and energies of everyone. To this end we are fundraising. The Commission has been generously funded by the Jewish Leadership Council but we need a little more to ensure we can do a great deal. We believe that all those who care about our community and its future, in particular the galvanisation of our women, will want to be counted now and to be partners in this drive for change. We need a donation, however small, to assist us with research and implementation of strategies for change. Please show your support by donating and aligning yourself with the growing list of supporters. Everyone connected with the Commission has donated at some level. Please join us.

100 participants from King Solomon High School and Ilford Jewish Primary School will take part in the Maccabi Fun run to raise money towards their new school campus.

Each participant aims to raise over £100 - which will raise £10,000 for the new campus.

The new campus is being built as part of the Redbridge Educational Renewal project which includes an extension to the facilities at KSHS, and will relocate Ilford Jewish Primary School into a new building on the site of King Solomon High School, in September this year.

This relocation will provide a vibrant and dynamic environment in which good quality secular and religious education is offered for Jewish children in North East London and Essex.

Together, the new school buildings will enhance the the Jewish community in Redbridge and are vital for a flourishing Jewish community in North East London and Essex.

Our runners include current and past students, parents, teachers and grandparents; local members of the community and those that have since moved away. Varied as they are, they are united with the aim of the best Jewish Education for young people in Redbridge.

Thanks for your support.

The Redbridge Educational Renewal project was launched by the local community in partnership with the Jewish Leadership Council in response to their Commission on the Future of Jewish Schools. The JLC report made an urgent recommendation that local school infrastructure in the area adapt to demographic needs and changes which presented challenges to all of the local Jewish schools.  The JLC has committed to raise the bulk of the funds required and the local community has committed to ensure that they also make their own contribution to the project costs.
