The British Lung Foundation is the only charity in the UK focussed on all lung diseases and lung health. One person in seven in the UK is affected by a lung disease. Whether it's asthma, COPD, lung cancer or other lung conditions, the British Lung Foundation is here for every one of them. We focus our resources on providing support for people affected by lung disease including asthma and lung cancer today; and work in a variety of ways, including funding world-class research into lung disease. We also campaign for positive change for people affected by lung disease including lung cancer and improve treatment, care and support for people with lung conditions such as asthma and lung cancer. We have a helpline with dedicated professionals who are fully trained in all aspects of lung health and lung disease including lung cancer and COPD and we fund nurses who are trained to deliver specialist support to people with lung cancer, COPD and other lung diseases. British Lung foundation
On 23rd October 2011, I will be running the BUPA Great Birmingham Run for the British Lung Foundation. This will be a particularly poignant day for me as it is also my birthday.
I would like to dedicate the day to my mum, a very special lady who although struck down by a lung condition remained positive to the very end of her life. She will be forever missed and her absence felt all the more on these special occasions.
My challenge represents a day of hope; hope to find cures for such life threatening diseases, hope to alleviate the physical and emotional pain caused by these illnesses and the hope that mum, wherever you are right now watching over me, I will do you proud as I continue your legacy of positivity, unselfishness, courage and determination even in the face of adversity and sorrow. I love you mum.
