Scope
Scope is a disability organisation in England and Wales whose focus is people with cerebral palsy. Scope's vision is a world where disabled people have the same opportunities to fulfil their life ambitions as non-disabled people. We provide a range of support, information and campaigning services, both locally and nationally, in addition to providing opportunities in early years, education, employment and independent living.

From Nick and Steve,

Hi, thanks for visiting our page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

On Friday 23rd July, we will be undertaking a cycle marathon with 49 other teams, starting in London, and finishing the following morning under the Eiffel Tower in Paris.  This is the first mass participation event to attempt to complete the classic event within 24 hours, covering over 180 miles each, taking it in turns to cycle 2 hour shifts. The ride will be fairly arduous, as the training schedule has already proved!  Not only will we be hoping to make cycling history but, more importantly, we will be raising vital funds for Scope, the charity for people with cerebral palsy.  Steve has previously raised funds for the charity in 2006 on a skiing challenge, and, after completing our first triathlons in 2008 and 2009, we were tempted by the personal scale of the challenge and also the idea of raising funds for a worthwhile cause.

Every 6 hours a child is born with cerebral palsy. It is the most commonly diagnosed physical condition in the UK, and occurs around the time of birth when part of the brain fails to develop properly. It can happen to any child. Scope is the largest charity in the UK working with people with cerebral palsy, their family and their carers, however, they are currently only able to reach one in four people.  The money raised from our challenge will allow Scope to continue running their vital services which are designed to support disabled people in every aspect of their lives from birth through to adulthood.  Scope’s aim is that disabled people achieve equality in everyday life.

We have set a target to raise £1,800, which will go some way to helping Scope reach their goal of £750,000.  Our employer, Karndean International, have also kindly offered to make a contribution to add to all donations we receive.

Thank's so much for supporting us. We will be in touch after the event to let you know how we got on and how much we raised!

Best wishes

Nick and Steve
