Charity

Kenyan Schools Project
We are a husband and wife team called Bill & Lynn Morris from Ellesmere, Shropshire who travel to Kenya twice a year currently helping eleven schools, five orphanages & one other charity called Feed The Children in Dagoretti, near Nairobi. We supply educational and sports supplies, which are donated by people in the UK, then sent out to Kenya where we distribute them ourselves to all the children we are helping. We have been travelling to Kenya since 2004 and have been a registered charity since February 2007. KSP have raised funding to complete numerous projects such as a kitchen and toilet refurbishment, solar powered lighting, new floors and even provided electricity. We have also donated over 1,700 desks which are made by local carpenters in Kenya. The desks are only £20 to sponsor so they make a great gift for Xmas, Birthdays or even a memorial for the loss of a loved one. If you are interested in sponsoring a desk for just £20 please visit our website click on 'Donate' and you will be able to download our desk sponsorship form. Simply fill it out and send back to us with payment. When the desk is made and delivered to the chosen school you will receive an emailed image of two pupils proudly sitting at your donated desk. Not only are you making a 100 per cent donation you are providing work for Kenyan carpenters and helping them feed their families. and we want to raise more so we can continue to change the lives of children in Kenya. Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro on the 25th August 2011 to help build and fit out a kindergarten classroom for children aged 4-6 years with the Kenyan Schools Project. (Registered charity 1117886) The school is called Mbuwani Primary School in Ukunda, near Mombasa. After a dream New Year spent on safari I stayed in Diani Beach where I visited a couple of primary schools. The children are taught in large classes and have one textbook for every six children.  They get to school at 7am to clean the school before lessons. Despite this, they are still highly motivated to learn and achieve. I want to do something to help children in the area have a better place to learn and more resources to use.

The Kenyan Schools Project is a small charity whose previous projects include one similar to my proposed project at the Mvindeni Primary School, providing solar panels to a school in Nairobi, donating books and teddies to an orphanage and their sponsor a desk scheme. (www.kenyanschoolsproject.co.uk)

Desks cost £20, buy a brick for £5, a window will cost £50 and a door £80, the roof is costing a whopping £1115!! All of the work is going to be done by local builders, using a local architect and will provide young children with a better start to their education, which they value immensely.

Kilimanjaro is going to be a challenge in itself with the prospect of altitude being an unknown.....not that many places I can acclimatise in the UK as its 5895m above sea level!!! Please help me raise enough money to build the kindergarten in Kenya and I promise to reach the summit! (Coming down with my knees may be the problem!!) Kate xx
