Thanks for visiting my sponsorship page. Working for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, I'm lucky enough to see first hand the work we do to improve the lives of women affected by breast cancer so I know what a huge difference we've been able to make since we opened our dedicated research centre in 1999, bringing ten drugs into clinical trial in that short time.
But I also get to hear, every day, why our work is so important and as I meet women and hear stories from their families who have been affected by breast cancer, it reminds me just how much more we've got to do if we're going to make the biggest difference and stop women dying from this terrible disease.
I've been so inspired by our wonderful supporters who fundraise with so much energy and enthusiasm, often spurred on through personal tragedy and, often going to astonishing lengths to raise funds. And I've recently very sadly lost a friend to the disease. So I thought I'd set myself my own personal challenge and become a Booby Bird for 2012.
Just for the record, I have a huge fear of jumping out of a plane, but I'm a great believer in challenging my fears, and if I can raise £20,000 to help save more lives and bring us closer to a future free of the fear of breast cancer, it will be worth more than a few sleepless nights!
