Happy Endings Rescue
Happy Endings Rescue was set up in 2007, on the realisation that there simply were not enough spaces in existing rescue organisations across the country for the hundreds of animals that were being neglected and abandoned every day. In 2011, we moved to a permanent site in Kent with fantastic facilities for the animals. We are very proud to say that, since our small beginnings in 2007, we have been able to provide happy endings for hundreds of animals, the fate of whom otherwise have been unthinkable. Happy endings are just what we want for all of the animals who come into our care, for however long we are lucky enough to have them. This is why we will not put to sleep any animal who comes in to us, unless we are medically advised that it is absolutely in the best interests of the animal. Since moving to our permanent site in Faversham Happy Endings has taken in 2347 animals in Kent and surrounding areas. We have given 2205 of these animals a forever happy ending leaving the remaining few permanently in our care or still looking for a home. In 2015 we re-homed 250 cats, 162 dogs, 50 horses and 106 other animals such as rabbits, ferrets and pigs. We also provide help and advice to people who need a helping hand with their animals within the local community or just a friendly voice to offer support over the phone. Offering free behaviour help and low cost day creche has also made difference to those with difficult and often scared dogs. If we had ignored their call for help these dogs would of ended up in rescue.

Hi, thanks for visiting my page.  I am running the Virgin London marathon this year for Happy Endings Rescue. I am an equine vet that got involved with this charity back in 2013. Since then, I have worked closely with them, in some small way, trying to help deal with the terrible "horse crisis" facing Kent and the whole country.

Not a day goes by in my job when I do not hear of another dumped horse on a roadside, or a large group of horses in terrible condition. Most of these horses are emaciated, suffering with severe worm burdens and diarrhoea, covered in lice, with severe liver disease associated with inappropriate diets. Many are colts that are indiscriminately breeding, or very young fillies already pregnant. A high proportion of them also have Strangles, so perpetuating the spread of this disease around the county and beyond. All of these problems are so easily prevented with good basic horse care.

This charity, in particular Chris and Terry, work tirelessly to do all they can to help these horses, and I have been amazed at their dedication and endless hardwork 365 days a year. Helping treat these poor horses to stop them suffering is a privilege.

Happy Endings rescue, however, doesn't just help horses. It helps every type of animal in need, and last year I was lucky enough to rehome a little Jack Russell X called Louie from them. Having run the marathon in 2012 and 2015, I haven't run for a year. Louie, being a rather lively chap, needs a lot of exercise, and he has become my running buddy. He seems to have endless energy and a 6 mile run is nothing to him. Despite being a very slow runner, I am determined to train and finish this race and raise as much money as I can for such a deserving charity.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
