Porchlight is a forward thinking and innovative charity, passionate about helping people and communities. We work throughout Kent to help the most vulnerable and isolated people in our communities to access housing and related support services. We help change lives through the following services: Help and Advice; Kent Outreach Service; Young Persons Services; Homelessness Prevention; Supported Accommodation; Community Support and Building Skills. In 2008-9 we supported over 1,600 people to change their lives for the better.

The University of Kent Rowing club had intended to compete in the Boston Rowing Marathon on Sunday 18th September and had commenced the tough training shcedule two weeks prior to the race. Unfortunately the crews got delivered tough news 3 days prior to the race and were told it was cancelled due to safety concerns of the rowers.
The rowers still feel strongly about rowing the marathon distance to raise money for our intended charity Porchlight. The rowers feel that although there was the disappointment of not being able to compete, that it would be even more disappointing to let down the cause we're trying to support.
For that reason the crew of Dan Westwood, Lawson Emanuel, Carl Soan, Tom Shepherd and cox Charlotte Riding felt they would row the marathon distance of 50km at Plucks instead. Althoguh it may not be as glamourous we hope that you will support them in their efforts and the cause they're supporting by coming to support or making a donation.
100% goes to this fantastic cause and you can help make what they're doing just that little bit less painful!
