Charities

The Welsh Guards Afghanistan Appeal
The Welsh Guards Afghanistan Appeal is designed to support, alleviate and improve the prospects of all those consequently in need.
Wales Air Ambulance
Wales Air Ambulance saves time and saves lives. The charity provides vital air cover across the whole of Wales for life-threatening illness or injury. Its 3 red and green helicopters are confronted with a diverse and challenging landscape, but from mountain tops to city roads, Wales Air Ambulance can reach any corner of Wales within just 20 minutes. The fast response times and access to such difficult locations increases the chances of getting to a hospital within the Golden Hour. This is the first sixty minutes after trauma, and a patient’s chances of survival and an early recovery are greatly improved if they receive the most appropriate care within this crucial hour. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, Wales Air Ambulance has responded to more than 14,500 missions since its launch on St David's Day 2001. Each mission costs approximately £1500. The charity relies solely on public donations to raise over £5 million every year to keep the air ambulances flying for Wales.
Severn Area Rescue Association
SARA is an Inshore Rescue boat and Land Search organisation covering the Severn Estuary and the surrounding area. SARA is tasked by the Coastguard, Fire, Police and Ambulance services across its operational area to provide Search and Rescue services 24/7, 365 days of the year. We work closely with other rescue agencies such as RAF Search & Rescue. Our Lifeboats are tasked by the coastguard to incidents in and around the Severn Estuary, or by Police, Ambulance, Fire and Rescue Services to the rivers Severn, Avon, Wye, Monnow, Ebbw, Bristol Avon and Usk. SARA have a number of Swiftwater Rescue Technicians, these crew specialise in the rescue of endangered persons from fast moving and flood water incidents. SARA has trained Search Technicians that are often deployed on search and rescue operations, usually to search for missing persons. SARA is a member of Mountain Rescue England & Wales. The work undertaken by SARA during the 2007 floods in Gloucestershire highlighted the importance of local flood support and SARA’s abilities in this area.

Hi, thanks for visiting our page.

I am approaching the landmark 30th Birthday and wanted a different way to celebrate it. I've never really made much of birthdays before and I'm not really a party person, so have decided that my 30th celebration will be to complete 30 events, in aid of 4 charities, for my 30th (30 4 30). The events will take place over the full 12 months of 2013 and will be in aid of The Welsh Guards Afghanistan Appeal, Wales Air Ambulance, The Victoria Cross Trust, and Severn Area Rescue Association.

As events are confirmed, they will be posted here, on the website, and anywhere else possible! I'm hoping for most of the events to be open to others who would like to take on one or more challenges in aid of these 4 fantastic causes. If you would like to join me, please feel free, you will be very welcome. Also, all donations will be greatly appreciated. This is by far the biggest fundraising project I have taken on, it isn't an easy task, but all 4 causes are so deserving of the effort.

Thank you in advance for your support and donations, and thank you so much to those who have given up their time, energy, and experience to help me in organising this challenge.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
