My lifelong dream and worst nightmare have come true - I have a place for the London Marathon 2012.

Worst nightmare - because I'm not an avid runner, because running 26 miles sounds horrific and, quite frankly, I'm petrified. Lifelong dream - because I am obsessed with this event and because nothing leaves me more inspired than a day watching the heros and heroines who run it - 90yr olds, blind people, those who've lost limbs, those doing it in memory of deceased loved ones.. so I've decided it was high time I man up and leave the spectators' line behind.

I'm running for Leonard Cheshire Disability. At 29, my nana was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and spent the rest of her life in a wheelchair, never complaining and never bitter. I can't imagine how it must feel to have your independence and mobility reduced in this way. All I know is I don't ever want to take my health and mobility for granted, and even at mile 25 when I'll want to break down and cry, I'll remind myself to be thankful for all the privileges I'm lucky enough to have.

Leonard Cheshire Disability is one of the leading campaigners in influencing Government policy on issues affecting disabled people and changing attitudes towards them. In addition, they are one of the UK's largest voluntary sector providers of services for disabled people including; care homes, daytime activities, short breaks, respite for carers and employment support. They directly support over 21,000 disabled people in the UK and work in 52 countries worldwide. Find out more here http://www.lcdisability.org/?lid=32

I would be really grateful if you could sponsor me - however much or little - to support Leonard Cheshire Disability in changing the lives of disabled people.

Thanks very much,

Laura
