The Royal Marines Charity
Royal Marines have always been the first to understand, first to adapt and respond and the first to overcome, that’s the Commando Mindset but today Royal Marines and their families are fighting battles they cannot win alone. The Commando Mindset isn’t always enough, with your help the Royal Marines Family will win their battles. We are the Royal Marines’ own Charity and are uniquely placed to understand, respond and react, enabling Royal Marines and their families to overcome their challenges including life changing injury, life limiting illness, mental disability, transition to civilian life and even poverty.
The Royal Foundation Of The Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge And Prince Harry
The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry is the Patrons’ primary charitable vehicle, and hopes to become a leading philanthropic investor, effectively using its time and resources to create lasting change in targeted areas and geographies, based on need and on the interests of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. The Foundation will seek to invest in, or partner with, organisations with proven impact, using its profile and leverage to create a multiplier effect in resources, outcomes and knowledge. The Royal Foundation has three current areas of focus: promoting the welfare of those who are serving or who have served their country in the Armed Forces; helping children and young people to achieve their potential; and supporting communities to protect and conserve their natural resources for future generations.

The Rowing Marine

In January 2018 Lee (Frank) Spencer will Row solo and unsupported 3,500 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, starting from Gibraltar and ending in Venezuela, raising money for the Royal Marines Charity and the Endeavour Fund (part of the Royal Foundation).

Lee will be the worlds first physically disabled person to row solo and unsupported from continental Europe to continental America - a Guinness World Record, proving there is life beyond injury. During this feat of extraordinary physical and mental endurance, Lee will battle 30 foot waves, sleep depravation, extreme fatigue, fear and solitude. Lee will attempt to be beat the current able bodied record of 96 days, 12 hours and 45 minutes, gaining another Guinness World Record and changing preconceptions surrounding disability.
