Charities

Aspire
Aspire - supporting people with spinal cord injury. Aspire is a national charity providing practical support, funding and advice to people with spinal cord injuries in the UK and Ireland.
Spinal Injuries Association
The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) is the leading national user-led charity for spinal cord injured (SCI) people. Being a user led, we are well placed to understand the everyday needs of living with spinal cord injury and are here to meet those needs by providing key services to share information and experiences, and to campaign for change ensuring each person can lead a full and active life. We are here to support you from the moment your spinal cord injury happens, and for the rest of your life.
Back Up
Approximately 3 people every day have an accident or injury that results in permanent paralysis through damage to the spinal cord. Despite good medical progress there is still no cure. Paralysis is permanent. Over 40,000 people in the UK have a spinal cord injury (SCI), the majority of whom are wheelchair users. The Back-Up Trust is a small, dynamic and professional charity that runs a range of services for people with SCI as well as their friends, family and volunteers to encourage independence, self-confidence and motivation following a life changing injury.
Architects Benevolent Society
The Society is the only registered charity in the UK for architects, assistants, technologists and landscape architects and their dependants. We give practical help to people of all ages who have experienced illness, accident, redundancy, bereavement or other personal misfortune. Our support ranges from grants and loans to confidential advice.

*** news update I completed the 100 miles on 23rd May in the sunshine ***

Starting on 6th May I am going to push my wheelchair 100 miles from the London Eye to the Brighton i360 along a flat waterside route. I want to raise money for the charities listed here. They have all helped me re-build my life after spinal cord injury which left me paralysed. What happened to me, a bicycle accident out in the countryside, could happen to anyone - three people each day suffer a catastrophic spinal cord injury with life changing consequences. That's why it's important to support charities like these to continue with their valuable work.

Thank you for your support.
