The Brain Tumour Charity
The Brain Tumour Charity is the UK's leading and largest dedicated brain tumour charity. We fund scientific and clinical research into brain tumours and offer information and support to those affectd, whilst raising awareness and influencing policy. Our aim is to improve understanding, diagnosis and treatment of brain tumours.
Pendleside Hospice
Pendleside Hospice provides care free of charge to anyone in the Burnley and Pendle area diagnosed with cancer or other life limiting illness and support to family and carers. The hospice has a 10 bed in-patient unit, with individual en-suite rooms that provides both respite and terminal care. The day therapy unit offers the opportunity for patients to meet on a weekly basis for specialist nursing care, complimentary therapies, physiotherapy and social activities in a group or individual session. Transport and meals are provided. An out patient clinic also exists to provide complimentary therapies such as massage, aromatherapy and reflexology. Physiotherapists are based at the hospice as well as a specialist lymphoedema and breathlessness clinic. Care offered at Pendleside is extended into patients homes and around the clock by specially trained Hospice at Home nurses. Other services include bereavement and carer support, home care volunteers and equipment loan. The cost of providing care increases year on year in response to demand for services. Current annual running costs exceed £3.8 million, of which, more than £2.8 million has to be raised from fundraising and donations. The support of everyone in the community in helping us to raise the funds needed to provide care is very much appreciated. www.pendleside.org.uk Telephone 01282 440100

I'm raising money for three charities - The Brain Tumour Charity, Pendleside Hospice and Vizsla Welfare.

After the recent shock illness which has affected my mum and resulted in her fighting for her life in Salford Royal hospital I'm raising money to support the Brain Tumour charity.

In addition to this I'm also fundraising for another charity very close to my heart. Some of you may recall that earlier this year in February my beautiful Vizsla boy Walter suffered a tragic accident involving a stick which resulted in us losing him at only 17 months old.  Our family was totally devastated but had huge amounts of support from the wonderful Vizsla community and in particular the Hungarian Vizsla Welfare Charity. Shortly after losing Walter we rehomed Dexter, a nine month old Vizsla boy who helped to mend our broken hearts.  We now also have Rufus, another Vizsla boy who came to us through the Welfare group.

I am so grateful to everyone who helped us and want to raise some money for Vizsla Welfare to help them continue their fantastic work.

I'd also like to raise some money for Pendleside Hospice who have provided care to numerous friends and family members and who do great work in the local area.

I've decided to set myself a personal challenge and will be running the Tatton Park half marathon in November. I've never run this distance before, I'm not a super fit runner - plus I've just had a baby in April so am fitting training around a newborn and three other children. This will be a tough challenge for me!

All funds raised will be split equally between the three charities.

Thank you for reading and any donation you make will be much appreciated.
