Charity

The Karibuni Trust
Karibuni Children is a UK Registered Charity which aims to raise awareness about the plight of children living off the streets and in the slums in areas of urban and rural poverty in Kenya; and to raise money to support projects to meet their needs. It currently supports well over 1,000 children through 13 projects. Sponsored children are supported throughout their education with the aim of ensuring that they acquire a qualification or a skill which will enable them to earn a living. Karibuni is run by volunteers in the UK so apart from a small amount spent on office expenses, all the money raised and donated is used to support the work in the projects.

Please support me & help the street children of Nairobi

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I finished.  I actually finished. My time was 13 hours 43 minutes. A long, long day made bearable by the extraordinary kindness of all the people who have very kindly sponsored me. Thank you so much.

The event was the 2013 IRONMAN France Triathlon on 23rd June 2013 in Nice, France and comprised a 3.8 km swim, 180 km cycle and 42 km run. Think of it as 152 lengths of your local 25m pool, followed by a cycle ride from London to Birmingham with a mountain in the way (the triathlon included over 2000 m of climbing) and a marathon to complete proceedings. On the day, the swim went well (although I got lost heading for the wrong buoy). The cycle was enjoyable, believe it or not. The run was tough in the heat, made more bearable by my son Aidan running with me for the last 10km.

The race will be shown on UK TV, Channel 4 - Sunday 30 June, 06.35am. I am the one in the black wetsuit & blue swimming hat.

This has all been in a good cause.  For some time my company Enchange and I have supported a school, Tumshangilieni in Nairobi, Kenya.  Founded in 1994, it has provided sanctuary, education & opportunity for expression via the performing arts for some of Nairobi’s most needy children. All money raised will be donated to Tumshangilieni via the UK based Charity, The Karibuni Trust.

Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. If you are a UK tax payer and select Gift Aid when you donate, the Charity will receive an additional 25 pence for every £1 you give.

Enchange will also match all donations made, so for every pound you donate, the school will receive up to £2.25.

Thank you so much for your support.
