Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association
Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association (also known as Footprints) provides friendship, support and a wide range of specialist educational services and training for children, families and professionals in Portsmouth and Hampshire. Our services are progressive and begin from birth with a warm welcome and guidance for new families, progressing onto Early Development Groups, Speech and Language Therapy, a School Outreach Service currently working with 26 schools, training for parents and professionals and confidence building drama groups. We also hold coffee and information mornings, and seasonal parties for our children.

After completing The Oner (83 miles across the Jurassic Coastline) in such harsh conditions I said I would just run shorter distances! This wasn’t to be and I subsequently went on to enter, and complete, a 100 mile footrace over the South Downs. I am still not completely satisfied, so I have decided to enter the T184; a 184 mile footrace, starting on the 22nd August, which covers the length of The Thames, all to be completed within an 80 hour time limit. It starts at the Thames flood barriers and finishes at the source deep within the Cotswolds, near Cirencester. What makes this race even more interesting is that it is completely self-supported – all participants must carry everything they will need to ‘survive’ the journey, including a bivvy bag, food and all medical supplies. My aim is to raise £1000 for the amazing charity Footprints, a charity that gives support to children with Down syndrome, and their families, who work tirelessly to enrich the lives of others. Please give generously if you can, it is much appreciated and a little can make such a difference.
