Link Community Development Scotland
Link Community Development (LCD) Scotland works to provide quality, sustainable education for children in Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, South Africa and Uganda. Our work promotes the health and well-being of young people and gives children the chance to escape the cycle of poverty into which they were born. Every day children in Africa walk for hours just to get to school. Link makes sure their journey is worth it.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my page.

This site also supports Springburn Academy's partnership with Malawi - we are helping them partner with Chichiri Secondary School, Blantyre - donate here.

Your money will go towards supporting partnership projects between South West Region in Malawi and Glasgow City Council. Through Malawi Leaders of Learning, we are working alongside education staff in Malawi to improve the quality of learning and teaching in Malawi to enable more children to stay longer in education thereby improving their life chances.

I visited Malawi in June 2011 and again in March 13. I know first hand how important this project is - the people are so welcoming and grateful for the support offered but the depth and breadth of poverty is breathtaking. Education is key to reduce the number of people in poverty, currently estimated at more than 80% of the population. Not only do we need to support the infrastructure but we also need to improve the quality of education being delivered. Malawi Leaders of Learning has a key role to play in this.

The money raised will be used support a range of strategies, for example, to pay the salary of a Malawian to work on the project and to buy resources. We have just started a small library to be run by parents in Chitsime Primary School.

We will need a steady source of income annually - if each child in a Glasgow school brings £1 once a year then we will have enough money to make this project a reality.

More information on this exciting project is available on www.glasgoweducationMLOL.org.uk
