Brain Research Trust
The Brain Research Trust (BRT) is one of the UK’s leading charities in the field of neurological research. We were established in 1971 to promote and support research into the causes, treatment, prevention and cure of neurological diseases. We do this by funding basic and clinical research at University College London’s world-renowned Institute of Neurology (IoN). Since the BRT was founded, we have given over £30 million to the IoN to help finance their research programmes and PhD studentships. From the more than 250 identifiable neurological conditions, the BRT's support helps further research into: Alzheimer's disease brain tumours multiple sclerosis stroke Parkinson's disease epilepsy motor neurone disease migraine brain trauma spinal cord regeneration

Michael's Payback Time

Hello lovely (very generous) people, you may or may not know my story so please indulge me for a moment...

Every minute in the UK, someone new is diagnosed with a brain condition.

In 2006, it was my turn... and without surgery I was given five years before the old brain packed up completely. By then, Lukas would have been turning 6 years old, and Olivia would have been reaching four (or most likely not born at all). But thanks to the research available at the time, a fully successful operation in July that same year removed a meningioma tumour that had been lurking up there for many years. Today, I can proudly say the whole thing is just a faded chapter of my quirky life story.

But now it's payback time! I'm running the London Marathon 2017, and need your support to reward this amazing charity. Without ongoing research, people like me and potentially you (let's face it, one in six people are affected directly) cannot hope to feel so lucky.

The human brain is the most complex phenomenon in the known universe.

I want to raise at least £4500 for Brain Research Trust, and any donation - however small - will help me reach this daunting target. I've never tried to raise much more than a finger, so I'd really appreciate your support to help reward this amazing charity.

Virgin Money Giving will claim gift aid on your donations. It is also a not-for-profit organisation, so that's nice!

Thank you for your help... together we can reach the finishing line come April 2017. x Michael
