Pendleside Hospice
Pendleside Hospice provides care free of charge to anyone in the Burnley and Pendle area diagnosed with cancer or other life limiting illness and support to family and carers. The hospice has a 10 bed in-patient unit, with individual en-suite rooms that provides both respite and terminal care. The day therapy unit offers the opportunity for patients to meet on a weekly basis for specialist nursing care, complimentary therapies, physiotherapy and social activities in a group or individual session. Transport and meals are provided. An out patient clinic also exists to provide complimentary therapies such as massage, aromatherapy and reflexology. Physiotherapists are based at the hospice as well as a specialist lymphoedema and breathlessness clinic. Care offered at Pendleside is extended into patients homes and around the clock by specially trained Hospice at Home nurses. Other services include bereavement and carer support, home care volunteers and equipment loan. The cost of providing care increases year on year in response to demand for services. Current annual running costs exceed £3.8 million, of which, more than £2.8 million has to be raised from fundraising and donations. The support of everyone in the community in helping us to raise the funds needed to provide care is very much appreciated. Telephone 01282 440100

On September 16, The Cheltenham & Three Counties Race Club had their usual monthly club night with guests Mark & Sara Bradstock (winning trainers of Coneygree), as well as the winning jockey Nico De Boinville.  Around 120 members were present to see Sara Bradstock draw the raffle for the signed portrait by Miranda Bowen.

The winner drawn from the hat was Jonathan Garratt, Managing Director of Cartmel racecourse, where we sponsored the race in Mick's name on August 31.

Jonathan told me he was delighted to win the prize and is planning to hang the portrait somewhere suitable at Cartmel.

There are still some limited edition prints available for the reduced price of £30.  If you would like one of these please call me, Steve Ennis, on 07767 228866 and I can arrange delivery.

Thank you all so much for your support of these two super charities
