Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care
Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care (IRGH) provides hospice care at home and in day hospice for patients with a life-limiting illness in Herts and Bucks. Our care is tailored to patients’ needs, whether that is end of life care or support through treatment and into remission. The charity’s free of charge services also include support for all the family following diagnosis, during the illness and after bereavement. Our nurses work closely with other healthcare professionals, striving to eliminate hospital admissions where possible and making the choice to stay at home a reality for thousands of patients each year

Having run the Flora London Marathon in April 2008 and 2009, we had naturally hoped to run in April 2010. But on receiving our commiseration magazines for ballot places, we decided instead to get married! In retrospect we’re not sure what was more mentally and physically challenging to prepare for?!

And now in April 2011, with no other huge life changing event to prepare for, the all new Mr and Mrs Alexander return to the Virgin London Marathon with our ‘good for age’ places (we’re not sure if this says more about our excellent running skills or our ageing years!).

Again this year, we’re raising money for Iain Rennie Hospice at Home (IRHH) in memory of the wonderful John Alexander. IRHH provided excellent palliative nursing care and support to John during his last few months in 2007.

Very many thanks again for your continued support,

Michelle and Matt xx

Update 28.03.11: Sad news! Michelle has sustained a femoral stress fracture (overzealous training!?) so is now resting up and unable to run the marathon... boo... Though donations for Matt will still be gratefully received. Many thanks.
