Charity
SportsAid is the charity for sports people, helping the next generation of British sporting talent to succeed. For over 30 years, SportsAid has financially supported talented, young sports people when they need it the most, at the start of their journey to international success. SportsAid is the first organisation to recognise their talent, often when Mum and Dad are their only sponsors. Young athletes, both able-bodied and those with a disability, are nominated to SportsAid by their sport’s own national governing body (NGB). This ensures the right athlete is helped at the right time, and in the right way. It is a proven and established process that makes a genuine difference. Many of Britain’s most successful athletes have been helped on their journey by SportsAid: Redgrave, Radcliffe, Grey-Thompson, Holmes, Hoy, Adlington, Wiggins, Ohuruogu, and many more. By raising money in the name of sport for the benefit of sport, we ensure the next generation has the backing they need to reach the same heights.

North Yorkshire Sport Bike Bike Ride 2010
Hi, thanks for visiting our page.
North Yorkshire Sport and the CTC Cycling Development Officer for North Yorkshire are undertaking another epic journey in the name of charity. The new challenge will consist of a 240 mile cycle ride across the county.
The ride from the 19th to the 21st of May 2010 will start in Harrogate and visit each administrative HQ in North Yorkshire.
The team will be riding to Selby, York, Malton and Scarborough on the 19th, followed by a visit to the Forestry Commission in Dalby Forest and National Park HQ at Helmsley before moving onto Northallerton, Hambleton then Richmond on the 20th.
The final day sees the ride tackle some of the hardest climbs as they ride through the Yorkshire dales to Grassington, Skipton and then back to Harrogate via Otley.
The ride will look to raise money for two excellent charities, SportsAid and the G.O.D.D. fund, so please give generously.
There are several other key aims:
Firstly we aim to encourage physical activity and cycling throughout the county. Local authorities, partners and cycling clubs will be promoting beginners rides up until the Big Bike Ride so that local riders can have the opportunity to then join the North Yorkshire Sport Team on their part of the route.
We’d like to give the opportunity to those joining us on the ride to show their support for two fantastic charities and we’d welcome donations on the day and through this site from anyone who’d like to make a contribution.
We hope that representatives of the local authorities and partners will both join us on the route and sign up to an agreement to promote physical activity as we progress.
Once the Big Bike Ride is over a route will be inaugurated which will be left as a legacy for tourism and recreation in North Yorkshire showing off the diversity of the county and using quieter roads where possible.
We’re up for the challenge of a lifetime, are you?
To find out more about joining the team on route or about cycling in your area, advice and support can be gained through either:

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
