Christian Blandford Fund
The aim of the Christian Blandford fund is to raise money for hospitals where sick children are treated. Often treatment is given under a "joint care" program where a specialist hospital such as Great Ormond Street or The Royal Marsden provides the main treatment and the local hospital is used if, for example, a child gets an infection. The specialist hospitals are usually far more comfortable and well equipped than the local NHS hospitals mainly due to extra funds from government and charity. We have chosen to raise money for local hospitals as we discovered during Christian's treatment that they needed it more.

Hi, thanks for visiting my page.

This year I'm running the London Marathon for an amazing cause that is very close to my heart, the Christian Blandford Fund. Many of you will know of the long, tough but miraculous journey that Christian and his family went through fighting cancer twice when he was a little boy.

During his many times in St Georges Hospital his parents noticed that whilst the care from the NHS professionals was superb, there were many things that could be improved upon in regards to the rooms and facilities and decided that something could be done, hence the formation of the charity. In their words they set out to improve the comfort of children and their families, particularly those affected by cancer, during prolonged stays in local NHS hospitals. Further details of the charity can be found at www.christianblandford.com

Christian is in fine health and annoying his Father frequently as any 13 year boy should be doing. There are unfortunately many children who are going through similar journeys with hopefully similar positive outcomes, so the charity continues to operate and help where it can.

All the funds raised, including Gift Aid go to the charity. There are no wages or expenses as all the supporters work for free, and I've personally paid all of the Marathon fees.

Thanks you very much for your support. I'll send Christian around every one of your houses to thank you (as his Dad would appreciate a bit of quiet ;))
