Charity

The Daisy Garland
A family-run national children’s charity providing active support for children with drug-resistant epilepsy and their parents/carers. The charity was set up in memory of our daughter Daisy who tragically died at 6 years of age from SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in epilepsy patients). We provide NHS hospitals with ketogenic dietitians - a medically recognised and accepted way of treating drug resistant epilepsy. This diet is not widely available on the NHS due to lack of funding. We also provide grants for night-time breathing monitors to children with drug-resistant epilepsy.

Hi, thanks for visiting my page.

This April I am running my first marathon, the London marathon, in my club place, for Lowestoft Road Runners.

I've trained hard, with help and support from fellow LRR!, which I am very grateful for, and hope to do the club proud.

I am keen to raise funds and support a fantastic charity, The Daisy Garland.

THE DAISY GARLAND, set up in 2004, by parents Sara and David Garland, are a UK registered charity, their aim is to support children with severe and drug resistant epilepsy.

Those of you who know my family will know my eldest son, Drew, has severe drug resistant epilepsy and also global development delay.

Drew is on medication and a specialist Ketogenic diet to reduce the seizures he has.

He has been on the Ketogenic diet For nearly, four years, and we have seen fantastic improvement in his awareness and reduction in seizures.

Part of what Daisy Garland do is to supply life saving sleep monitors which alert families to threatening night time seizures. These cost over £800 each. They also help fund dietitians into the NHS, to deliver the Ketogenic diet to epilepsy patients. Each dietician costs over £26,000 per year.

knowing how the diet has helped my son, we are keen to help other children get onto the diet, and a way to assist this is to get more Ketogenic dietitians into the NHS.

I hope you are able to support me in helping to support this wonderful charity, who are so close to my families heart.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
