The Chiltern Centre For Disabled Children Limited
Helping disabled children and young people to live life to the full, while supporting their families in their vital role of caring - we help families enjoy the everyday experiences most take for granted. Originally set up in 2004 to provide essential short break services for children and young people with learning and often physical disabilities, today we offer a wide range of additional care services, social, play and recreational opportunities (including an after school clubs and a popular Saturday club), outreach support and life skills training. Employing clinical and registered nurse specialists The Chiltern Centre is unique locally in being able to provide care for children and young people with profound and multiple and complex physical, emotional, behavioural and medical needs. These needs include sensory impairments, mobility, communication needs, complex feeding needs, breathing difficulties, severe learning difficulties and long-term health issues including cerebral palsy, downs syndrome and autism. 80% of the children require at least 1:1 care, some 2:1 and even 3:1. We support 85 families across the Thames Valley and South Oxfordshire - from a few hours after school once a week, weekly youth clubs or a half-day in the holidays to overnight care and even multi-day breaks.

50 Miles (80km)

50 ish hours

Swimming together, as a group, from Oxford to Henley to raise funds for the Chiltern Centre (www.chilterncentre.org.uk), a charity providing specialised care for disabled children and young adults in the Thames Valley area, and support to their families.

We will be starting our challenge at Osney Lock in Oxford on the 14th of July 2016, swimming a total of 50 Miles (80km) down to Henley, passing 15 locks on our way.

We will have 2 overnight stops on the way: aiming to get to Day's Lock at the end of Day 1, and Mapledurham Lock by the end of Day 2; leaving us 21.5 km to swim on Day 3 to finish at the Angel On The Bridge Pub on Saturday 16th July in the afternoon

Please sponsor us, a lot of a little, however much you can! Every little counts! And please share our page widely!

Thank you!

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
