Get Kids Going
Get Kids Going! is a National charity which gives disabled children and young people - up to the age of 26 years - the wonderful opportunity of participating in sport. We provide them with specially built sports' wheelchairs so they can do: athletics, marathons, tennis, skiing, rugby, sailing, boccia, basketball, sledge hockey, table tennis, fencing, shooting, archery, powerlifting and many many sports. Get Kids Going! inspires British disabled youngsters to compete in sporting events, from start to paralympic level, by giving them 'sports grants' to help their; training, physiotherapy, travel, competition fees, design and development of sports' wheelchairs etc. With your help many can become world record holders and paralympic champions!

Orlagh

I can honestly say that I never thought I’d see the day when I’d be setting up a fundraising page for running a marathon.  It won’t come as a huge surprise to most of you that I was talked into it after a glass of wine, egged on by McD. I think it’s fair to say that neither me, nor my lifestyle, is built for marathon running but it’s been an interesting journey over the past 3 months; my attitude has progressed from “it’s not going to happen” to “hmm, flights are booked but I could always just go shopping” to “wow, I actually can run (or shuffle) for 18 miles” to today’s frame of mind which is “right, we’re going to do this”. I'm now looking forward to the experience and raising as much money as possible for a great charity.

Mark

Having run a few halves before I always felt a marathon was "doable" but just that I hadn't got around to doing it just yet... unusual for me to procrastinate like that :)

Upon signing up I felt pretty confident. That was, until I started properly training. It is tough, really tough and I have so much new found respect for my friends that have done this before. Averting injury whilst getting the miles under the belt has proved almost impossible.

But as a great man once said, "Pain is inevitable, suffering optional" (thanks Blue). So please help stave off the suffering by supporting us and giving to this very special charity. It means a huge amount to us and will be a major source of motivation for the final push. We appreciate every penny you donate.

cheers
McD

Why Get Kids Going?

Sport played a huge part in both our lives as kids and we reckon it’s something that every child should be able to enjoy; by raising money for Get Kids Going we hope to give disabled kids the opportunity to participate and excel in a wide variety of sports. Your support will not only enable us to do that but it will get us through those 26.2 miles on the day... so please join us in digging deep ;-)

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
