UWMFC - From Boundary Park to Anfield

Owen Lock

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/OwenLock1

On Friday 17th March, a small group of boys from the UWMFC will be making the short trip of 38 miles (just shy of 1 and a half marathons) on foot from Boundary Park - home of Oldham Athletic FC, to Anfield, the home of Liverpool, in under 12 hours. We are making the trip in support of Mind and Mesothelioma UK, two charities that are extremely close to the hearts of two of my best mates.

Mind offers advice and support to people experiencing a mental health problem; with suicide the biggest killer of males under 45 in the UK, this is a charity which the club is proud to support. Changing perceptions about mental health is vitally important, and UWMFC hopes to raise both money to do this and awareness that it's OK to talk.

Mesothelioma UK provides assistance to sufferers of mesothelioma, a type of cancer that usually develops in the chest and is caused primarily by exposure to asbestos. This remains a health concern for many people, and Mesothelioma UK offers excellent care to patients and their family/friends at a difficult time. We hope to make a contribution to support their continued efforts to improve treatment and awareness of mesothelioma.

Any donations, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated!
