Charities

National Autistic Society
The National Autistic Society is the UK's leading charity for people affected by Autism. Over half a million people in the UK have autism. Together with their families they make up over two million people whose lives are touched by autism every single day. Despite this, autism is still relatively unknown and misunderstood. Which means that many of these two million people get nothing like the level of help, support and understanding they need. Together, we are going to change this.
Oxfam
Oxfam GB is a leading international NGO with a worldwide reputation for excellence in the delivery of aid and development work. Our purpose is to work with others to overcome poverty and suffering. Oxfam GB is a member of Oxfam International.

Kate vs. Marathon

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page, you lovely beans.

Despite the fact that I've never really run very far at all, am slower than a snail and also do a good impression of a running tomato everytime I attempt a jog, I've convinced myself that I can absolutely run the London Marathon. Yep, I'm a fool.

I am doing so for two very special charities, Oxfam and National Autistic Society.

I have been very lucky to work for Oxfam since 2010 and have been so lucky to see what a difference can be made. From supporting people to find decent work in the UK, to a village in Ghana where a project around maternal health meant no more babies died of preventable diseases, to seeing refugee children getting warm coats as they made their traumatic journey from their homes in Syria, I have seen so many times that a little can go a long way to helping people live safer, healthier and happier lives.

I have also chosen to support National Austic Society, who do amazing work to support those with autism and their families. I have a very inspiring sister who has worked with children with autistim for many years and have seen how important it is that children with autism get specialist support so they can also lead safer, healthier and happier lives.

I am excited, nervous and everything in between. Bye bye toe nails, hello Lyrca.
