Friends Of Plas Dol-y-moch
The Friends of Plas Dol y Moch is an exciting new charity set up to support young people from Coventry in participating in adventurous outdoor activities in North Wales. The Friends recognize the impact outdoor education has on the personal development of young people of all abilities and backgrounds. Plas Dol y Moch is an outdoor education centre located in the Snowdonia National Park. Young people from Coventry have been visiting the centre since it was established in 1996. The Friends charity will support all young people accessing the provision through bursaries and raise money for additional facilities and programmes. Recently, the Friends have raised funds for two Yurts with accessible entrances and enabled some families from one of Coventry’s special schools enjoy using the facilities there. Although only just set up, the Friends have an ambitious list of priorities to enable Coventry young people participate in as wide a range of activities as possible. The current priority for the Friends is to raise funds for the ‘Mountain Bike Experience’ project. This amazing project has a fund raising target in excess of £20,000. The project will enable young people of all abilities and backgrounds to learn about and experience the excitement of mountain biking in a safe environment. It will link into a number of current programmes to do with health, safe cycling and the Olympic legacy. Young people will be supported by qualified and experienced staff in Coventry and at Plas Dol Y Moch drawn from the Centre team and local cycling clubs. Youngsters who would like to continue with the sport or show a particular aptitude for it will be encouraged to join identified local clubs and centres. We need to raise funds for 20 bikes, some adapted for young people with disability, 1 tandem bike, Safety equipment, e.g. helmets, Bike trailer, Secure storage, Training track at Plas Dol y Moch We hope to phase the project in from January, 2014.

Hi, thanks for visiting our page.

For many people growing up in Coventry the Pas Dol-y-Moch outdoor education centre forms a lasting memory of childhood.  The centre now needs to raise important funds to ensure it can remain a City resource for future generations.

To support this fundraising effort a team of staff from Adult Social Care will be attempting a 24 hour treadmill challenge over the 20 and 21 May 2016 where we will attempt to keep a treadmill in constant motion for a period of 24 hours.

The team will be made up of staff of all shapes and sizes who will take it in turns to work together to complete the challenge which will take place at the AT7 centre in Bell Green.

The total target for Plas Dol-y-Moch is £250,000 and our treadmill challenge is just one of a whole load of fundraising initiatives taking place to support the centre in reaching this significant target by the end of September 2016.
