The Stroke Association is a registered national charity solely concerned with stroke. We aim to reduce strokes through research and health education, and also help and support people and their families who have been affected by stroke through our Community Services.
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. Established in the aftermath of the massacre at Sabra and Shatila, today MAP delivers health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict, occupation and displacement. Working in partnership with local health providers and hospitals, MAP addresses a wide range of health issues and challenges faced by the Palestinian people. With offices located in Beirut, Ramallah and Gaza City, MAP responds rapidly in times of crisis, and works directly with communities in the longer term on health development.
Gingerbread is the national charity working with single parent families. Over 90 years have passed since our organisation was established, yet bringing up a child alone is still tough, making ends meet is still hard and stigma and prejudice have not disappeared. One thing that has changed though, is that single parenthood is now much less rare. 1 in 4 families, with over 3 million children, are headed by a single parent. Despite that they are still more likely to face poverty and prejudice than couple families. Gingerbread provides expert information and advice along with membership and training opportunities, to single parents and their families and campaigns against poverty, disadvantage and stigma to promote fair and equal treatment and opportunity. Our services include. The Gingerbread Single Parent Helpline, providing expert telephone information and advice for single parents via a dedicated freephone number, 0808 802 0925 Gingerbread Single Parent Information Online, providing dedicated online information and advice for single parents. Gingerbread Membership, enabling single parents to share experiences, hear about discounts and get involved in Gingerbread’s work. Gingerbread Development and Skills, providing training, employability and confidence building programmes for single parents, advisers and practitioners.
