Charity
The Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers is one of the City of London Livery Companies which was originally founded in the 17th century as a trade association for the makers of pattens. The principal charitable activities of the fund take the form of; Orthopaedic footwear, Education & Young Managers. The Livery has been making grants towards the purchase of bespoke footwear for people with severe walking difficulties for more than 30 years. The initiative was started by Past Masters Colonel Dennis Barratt, Raymond Sancroft-Baker and Liveryman Michael Illingworth, and was originally identified by St Bartholomew’s and the London Foot Hospital as a gap in NHS funding.

Pattenmakers Marathon Team's fundraising page
This year we have the incredible number of 9 runners, the most there have ever been, drawn from the ranks of the Pattenmakers and the Charities we support.
The members of the Pattenmakers “Team” are Robert Myhill, Lucy Joseph, Patrick English, Richard Parlour and Julia Timpson. The Army is represented by Staff Sgt Gary Masters, the Air force by Sqn.Ldr. Chris Talbot whilst Rob McKenna represents Footwear Friends and Caroline Gourri the Glovers Livery Company.
We are aware that every Charity always says this year its need is ever greater. However for the Pattenmakers it definitely is the case. In addition to providing support for our worthwhile causes such as Educational bursaries, our Church, St Margaret’s, the Young Managers awards, etc. this year is most important because of our support in the supply and fitment for orthopaedic shoes for those Service men undergoing treatment at Headley Court. Sadly this is an ever increasing requirement, so your support to help us to help them is needed more than ever before.
Please give generously and do not to forget to fill in your name and address details in order that gift aid might be claimed—last year it alone provided several pairs of orthopaedic shoes.
