Charity

The Garwood Foundation
The Garwood Foundation, founded in 1952, is an independent charity providing a wide range of services for local children and adults with disabilities, their families and their carers. Our services include:- Rutherford School is a mixed day school for children aged 2 - 16 years who have profound and multiple learning difficulties with physical and complex medical needs; many also have visual and hearing impairments. Up to 28 children attend on a daily basis. The Bramley Hill Centre is a day centre for up to 60 young adults with a wide range of physical disabilities. The centre provides a friendly environment with work, occupational health facilities and a wide range of activities. The aim of the centre is to encourage confidence, develop skills and to motivate each individual to use their abilities to the full. Jean Garwood House is a registered residential home providing accomodation with full care and support to 13 adults with physical disabilities. A respite room is also available - a valuable resource for families and carers. The residents at the home are encouraged to lead as independent and sociable lives as possible with support of the care team.

Hi, thanks for visiting our page.

Following our (successful) team effort to complete 6x10 km runs in 60 hours a few years ago to mark The Garwood Foundation's 60th Birthday, Paul and Colin have decided to raise further funds for them by undertaking a new physical challenge: this time the Prudential RideLondon Surrey 100 mile cycle!

We very much appreciate any support you can offer to us and this wonderful, independent and local charity which itself supports children and adults with severe disabilities.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
