Charity
Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading care and research charity for people with dementia and those who care for them. There are 700,000 people with dementia in the UK with numbers set to rise to one million by 2025. Alzheimer's Society is a membership organisation, which works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Many of our 25,000 members have personal experience of dementia, as carers, health professionals or people with dementia themselves, and their experiences help to inform our work. The Society's fight for a better world for people with all types of dementia takes a wide range of forms. Through our branches, we touch the lives of over 30,000 people every week, providing practical services and support for people with dementia and their carers. Every year, more than a million people make use of the information we provide. Through campaigning and lobbying we strive to influence government policies and raise awareness of the challenges faced by people with dementia and the people who care for them. And through our research programme we work to improve the knowledge we have about dementia and its treatment - and pursuing the ultimate goal of finding a cure.

Paul Judge's fundraising page
Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to my chosen charity. Alzheimers has touched our lives as my Dad has been a victim of this for a good few years. I hope in some way funds may help to reduce the toll of people falling for this. It seems to not even be particularly age related. Thanks you for your thoughts and support.
I have enjoyed running for many years and have now realised a "one off" ambition by receiving a club place in London this April. My entry is all paid for and therefore all donations will go directly to the Alzheimers Society.
Thank you all for moral support, interest and sponsorship an experience that I will never forget.................
MARATHON DAY SUMMARY
The day started well, a good nights sleep and felt at peak at the start. The weather was much kinder than forecasted and was pleasantly warm.
Organisation was excellent and friendship, camaraderie amongst runners was amazing.
I felt great and on target for the first 14 miles, exciting to see the elite runners coming the other way between 12.5 miles and 14 miles [they were at 22 mile mark!!]
15 to end were very painful and hard but I got there. Now know that I didn’t take in enough water and in consequence seriously suffered dehydration. Anyone considering a marathon do not hesitate to contact me as after many years of running, one small omission during the race could have been so catastrophic.
In short did enjoy the experience? Yes
Did I enjoy the running?
1 to 14 miles – Yes,
15 to 22 miles NO,
22 to 26.3 – the atmosphere and crowd support amazing, but the running – still No!!
Finishing time; 4hrs 13 mins
Finally, Would I do another? .................... I think I will stick to fell running with the dog
Once again a huge thank you.
