The Nancy Blackett Trust preserves, maintains and sails Arthur Ransome's yacht the 'Nancy Blackett', used by him as the original of the 'Goblin' in 'We Didn't Mean to Go to Sea'. Our aim is to inspire interest in Ransome's books among all ages, and to help young people to discover and enjoy sailing, both aboard Nancy and through other opportunities.

Nancy Blackett finishes Round the Island Race
Hi, thanks for visiting our page. We entered Nancy Blackett for the Round the Island Race - a 50-mile race right round the Isle of Wight on 19 June. We didn't expect to win, we were prepared not even to finish as protecting the historic boat is high on our priorities, but we do want to use the event to raise some money for our charitable aims - in this case our own Brigit Sanders Fund to help young people discover and enjoy sailing, and our Patron's Ellen MacArthur Trust which helps young people's cancer recovery through sailing.
In the event, we did finish the race in 12 hours, 24 minutes, 37 seconds, coming eighth out of nine finishers in our class. Nancy performed brilliantly – more details on our own website – and thoroughly earned the sponsorship we've set out to raise.
I was crewing on board on the day and I'd really appreciate any support you'd care to offer.
