RICHARD MORRIS

Charity

Henry Surtees Foundation
After Henry’s tragic death at Brands Hatch on 19 July 2009, when he was hit by another competitor’s wheel and killed instantly, John Surtees and his family were inspired to form a foundation by the grief and generosity shown by friends and people in the wider community. A large sum of money was donated in lieu of flowers which was directed to Headway Tunbridge Wells & District, the brain injury charity for the building of new facilities. Further support was given by the public at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and junior motorsport turned out in force for a superb Kart fundraising event at Buckmore Park. A significant sum has been raised. But we have to look forward to other fundraising events and funding projects where we can make a difference. Every penny we raise will count. Through the Henry Surtees Foundation we want to:- To assist people with brain or physical injuries caused by accident to return to community living by the provision of support for equipment and facilities; provide education and training associated with motorsport-related programmes in technology, engineering, and road safety instruction for two and four wheels; act as a resource for young people up to the age of 18 by providing advice and assistance and organising programmes of physical, educational and other activities in order to:- advance young people in life by helping them to develop their skills, capacities and capabilities so that they can participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals; advance their education; and relieve unemployment.

Hi, thanks for visiting our page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and David, my son, and donations will be quickly processed and passed to the Henry Surtees Foundation charity. Please note that 100% of your generous donation, without any deduction of costs, will be passed to the worthwhile causes supported by the Henry Surtees Foundation.  More details of the charity can be found on this website.

David and I are driving my 1964 Mini Cooper S on the Beaujolais Run from 14th to 18th November.  As part of this event we are committed to raising a minimum of £2250 for the Henry Surtees Foundation, a very worthwhile charity supporting such causes as head injuries, major trauma, cancer and air ambulance.  Ancre Hill Vineyard has kicked off the fund raising by donating £250.  Donations can be made up to and including 31 January 2012.

Your support is very much appreciated.
