United Response
United Response is a UK charity that supports people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and physical disabilities to live in the community, across England and in Wales. We provide person-centred services to people so they can be as independent as possible. We work with families and carers, local authorities, and other partners to provide people with the best possible package of support, tailored to the individual needs of those we support.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page!

Well, on a bit of a whim I applied for the London Marathon and was pretty surpised when I got a place!  To help to motivate me I thought running for a charity would be a good idea and a great opportunity to raise some money for a good cause.  I've not been very successful at this fund-raising malarky previously, having set a record (which I believe is still standing) for the lowest-amount-raised-in-one-day-shaking-a-bucket at £0.53.  Man, they were a mean crowd, but hopefully this will work out better and you will be more generous!

I looked around at a few different charities and the one I chose to run for after doing some research was United Response.

United Response work with individuals and families, supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health needs or physical disabilities to help them live fulfilling lives.  A lot of the basic stuff is provided by the state but United Response provide the extra help that is often necessary and missing.  Be it through such things as training, supported employment, counselling or respite care, they help to provide things that make a real difference to people's lives, whilst also preventing isolation and breaking stigmas in the wider community.  They bascially help people to not just be living but to contribute and feel worth-while members of society.

Being a smaller charity, this sort of event makes a big difference to their fundraising so you can be assured that any sponsorship money you give will make a big difference!

Please take a look at their website if you'd like to see more detail on the types of things that they do:

www.unitedresponse.org.uk

If you would like to donate, please just click on the 'donate now' button.  Its completely secure and they will not email you (apart from to say thanks) and will not sell your details on to anyone else.  Please make sure you do the GiftAid donation when asked as this makes a big difference - for every £1 donation the charity gets another 28p from the government.  This site does not take money from the gift aid amount unlike other well known sites - the charity does pay to be registered with them however but saves on other admin and banking costs.  If you'd like to donate but not by electronic means, please just get in touch with me at ralfboddington@btinternet.com

I really would be extremely grateful for any contribution, large or small towards my target amount, so please donate if you can.  I've beaten 53p anyway so the sky's the limit!
