Alzheimers Society
Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading care and research charity for people with dementia and those who care for them. There are 700,000 people with dementia in the UK with numbers set to rise to one million by 2025. Alzheimer's Society is a membership organisation, which works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Many of our 25,000 members have personal experience of dementia, as carers, health professionals or people with dementia themselves, and their experiences help to inform our work. The Society's fight for a better world for people with all types of dementia takes a wide range of forms. Through our branches, we touch the lives of over 30,000 people every week, providing practical services and support for people with dementia and their carers. Every year, more than a million people make use of the information we provide. Through campaigning and lobbying we strive to influence government policies and raise awareness of the challenges faced by people with dementia and the people who care for them. And through our research programme we work to improve the knowledge we have about dementia and its treatment - and pursuing the ultimate goal of finding a cure.
Together for Short Lives (formerly ACT and Children's Hospices UK)
Together for Short Lives (formerly ACT & Children's Hospices UK) is the leading charity for children and young people who are unlikely to reach adulthood and their families. Our vision is that all these families have the best possible care and support whenever and wherever they need it.

For SEESA’s next sustainability meeting instead of driving and increasing our carbon footprint, the Sustainability Team are going to cycle 240 miles over 4 days to reach their final destination...the EDEN PROJECT! Yes you read that correctly........ they are going to CYCLE 240 miles!!!

Purpose of the event

  • Raise awareness of Sustainability
  • Raise awareness of Health and Wellbeing
  • Raise £3,000 for our chosen Charity
  • Tour the Eden Project and brainstorm on how we can improve sustainability within SEESA

The team will leave on a Saturday morning in April 2012, with the objective of covering 60 miles per day, arriving at the Eden Project on Tuesday afternoon. Not only will they be cycling, they will also be camping every night - to make sure they get there in the most sustainable way possible! Wednesday will be filled with a tour of the Eden Project and a sustainability brainstorming meeting. Thursday is back on their bikes to cycle home...NO just kidding, they will take the train!

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to the Alzheimer's Society and Together for Short Lives. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
