Children with Cancer UK
Children with Cancer UK Charity Registration No. 298405 Almost 4,000 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK. That’s ten every day. Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer. We fund life-saving research into the causes, prevention and treatment of childhood cancer and we work to protect young lives through essential welfare programmes. For more information, please visit www.childrenwithcancer.org.uk or telephone: 020 7404 0808
The Brain Tumour Charity
The Brain Tumour Charity is the UK's leading and largest dedicated brain tumour charity. We fund scientific and clinical research into brain tumours and offer information and support to those affectd, whilst raising awareness and influencing policy. Our aim is to improve understanding, diagnosis and treatment of brain tumours.
The Rumba Foundation
The primary focus of The Rumba Foundation is to financially support research which will benefit both animal and human health. Over the past 4 years, The Rumba Foundation has raised £90,000 and we have focussed specifically on the research and treatment of cancerous tumours. A substantial proportion of our funds was used to purchase a live image X-Ray machine called a C-Arm which is now being used on a daily basis at the new Fitzpatrick Referrals Oncology and Soft Tissue Hospital in Guildford, Surrey as part of the treatment of cancerous tumours in animals. This is the project of Supervet, Professor Noel Fitzpatrick who is a huge advocate of One Health which is the generic term referring to the sharing of research between doctors and vets. The results from this ground-breaking approach are being shared with doctors at Royal Surrey Hospital who are using an identical piece of equipment on human patients so the joint research is making accelerated progress in treating tumours. The Rumba Foundation C-Arm is now the busiest in the UK.
