Charities
CLIC Sargent helps children and young people with cancer and their families with the trauma of diagnosis, the often long journey through treatment and continues to support them afterwards. Every day 10 families are told that their child has cancer. Diagnosis often comes as a shock. Treatment usually starts straightaway and can last up to three years. CLIC Sargent is there with clinical, practical and emotional support, every step of the way.
Someone in the UK is diagnosed with a blood cancer such as leukaemia every 23 minutes. A blood stem cell (or bone marrow) transplant is often the only cure. Currently Anthony Nolan is only able to provide a matching donor for half the people that come to us in need of a lifesaving transplant. With your help we can grow our register of remarkable people willing to donate their stem cells, facilitate more transplants and save more lives. It costs £100 to recruit, tissue type and maintain just one potential donor to our register. Your donations will help fund our lifesaving work. Please visit www.anthonynolan.org for more information or email events@anthonynolan.org if you'd like to get more involved.
The Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) supports the work of the Haematology Centre at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (RD&E). The Centre treats the region's blood cancer victims, performs bone marrow transplants and conducts research into the causes and treatment of the disease. ELF celebrated its 20th anniversary during 2008.

Running For Leukaemia
This year to raise money for 3 great Leukaemia charities and a cancer charity I am running a few races. Thats 24km over the course of the year plus training kms as well!
May 12th: Westminsters Womens Classic, Plymouth
July 8th: The British 10k, London
July 15th: Race For Life, Plymouth
August 25th: Cardiff Fun 5K
September 16th: Saltram 5k
All such amazing Charities who do such a lot for children and adults with Leukaemia. Why are you doing this? I hear you ask. One word my friends. FELIX.

Felix was diagnosed with ALL Leukaemia in January 2012. It was a shock for all of his friends and family that this healthy looking, bouncy, 3 year old boy could be developing such a serious condition.
Due to his mums quick thinking and instinct Felix's Leukaemia was caught very early, he has an excellent prognosis but will still spend the next 3 years having Chemotherapy, he will spend 3 years with a central line in place. That is as long as he's been alive.
Felix inspired me, he's taken all the poking, prodding, operations, and treatment in his stride, he's been attached to a drip almost permanently since he was admitted except for a few minutes when he did what any three year old should, and he ran up and down the hospital corridor.

His spirit and ability to take everything in his stride has totally inspired me to get out and train, to use my healthy body to do something to help children and adults affected by Leukaemia. If Felix at the tender age of 3 can cope with what life is throwing at him, I should be able to get out and train and do a few 5k runs no matter what. Nothing can compare.
Plus the great thing? Because I'm doing it you don't have to! All you have to do is click that big "Donate Now" button and follow the simple instructions. It's all safe and secure, the funds are being split evenly between the three charities and you can even donate gift aid if you are a UK taxpayer.
So sponsor me? I'll be running miles and miles training and racing and we are doing it all because we can help Leukaemia sufferers and save lives. All you have to do is click a button and part with a quid, less than a macdonalds happy meal! Less than a pint! If you can part with more or less it's all help.
