Charities

CLIC Sargent
CLIC Sargent helps children and young people with cancer and their families with the trauma of diagnosis, the often long journey through treatment and continues to support them afterwards. Every day 10 families are told that their child has cancer. Diagnosis often comes as a shock. Treatment usually starts straightaway and can last up to three years. CLIC Sargent is there with clinical, practical and emotional support, every step of the way.
Teenage Cancer Trust
Every day in the UK, six teenagers are told they have cancer. This is a rising figure and there are already more young people than children with the disease. These young people often get a raw deal, receiving hospital treatment in inappropriate facilities catering for children or the elderly. Teenage Cancer Trust focuses on the needs of teenagers and young adults with cancer by providing specialist teenage units in NHS hospitals designed to give teenagers the very best chance of a positive outcome. As well as state-of-the-art facilities to keep patients occupied during long stays in hospital, the units provide an environment where teenagers can meet others in a similar situation. The charity estimates that, with the units they currently have around the UK, only half of all teenagers diagnosed with cancer now have access to the dedicated, specialist support they provide. But Teenage Cancer Trust’s aim is to build enough units so that, by 2012, every teenager will be treated on one. For more information on Teenage Cancer Trust visit www.teenagecancertrust.org

Hi, thanks for visiting our page.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

Rob, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer just before Christmas '09.  He is currently receiving both Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy at University College Hospital in London.

He has received fantastic treatment and we are keen to ensure that those who may suffer in the future have the same opportunities that Rob has had.

Accordingly we are trying to raise £8000.00 for the two charities that have been instrumental in getting him this far:

First, Teenage Cancer trust, who fund and build specialist teenage oncology wards for young people in NHS hospitals, and secondly, for Clic Sargent, who aim to support children, young people and families affected by cancer.

We appreciate your support and thank you for all donations.andrew lees
