Baraka Community Partnerships
Baraka Community Partnerhsips is a young, vibrant and small Surrey based Charity set up by a group of friends in 2008. Our focus is to assist those in small, impoverished communities in the Developing world to enable those communities to achieve their basic goals to make fundamental improvements to their lives. Whether these goals are educational, medical, environmental or economic, we are there to help. We operate in Zambia, Morocco, India and Laos and 100% of any donations that we receive go towards our projects. Check out our website at:

Thank you so much for getting this far......

As I am sure you all know by now, I am running the Edinburgh Marathon at the end of May. After a slight setback last week after a bit of a fall and a subsequently smashed up face, training is now back on track and I'm feeling goooood...

I wasn't going to fundraise, but thought that as this is actually a pretty big thing for me, (those of you who have known me for a while will remember my pathetic PE results at school) people may kindly want to acknowledge this by sponsoring me. I will be raising money for Baraka Community Partnerships and their Zambian projects. Baraka support a variety of schools in Zambia that are in desperate need of basic infrastructure and a means to survive long term. Without Baraka's support many of the children in the communities they work with would receive no education at all.

Like a lot of people, I have concerns about where my money goes when donating to charity. Baraka's operational costs are currently funded by a private sponsor and their Gift Aid receipts so 100% of any sponsorship money you donate will got directly to the Zambian projects and Baraka have secured a match funder for me so your donation will also be doubled. For more information on Baraka in Zambia go to

or like them on facebook.

Muchos gracias for your support and if anyone is in Edinburgh on 26th May - please come down and show your face (If you're looking for me, I'll be the one with the purple face struggling from mile 1....)

Ruth xx
