SSAFA Forces Help - Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) - Forces Help is the national charity helping and supporting those who serve in the British Armed Forces, those who used to serve, and the families of both. One day’s paid service is all that is needed to qualify for our assistance. SSAFA Forces Help has been serving the Armed Forces and their families for almost 125 years and our work is as vital today as it has ever been. Our continually evolving support services are driven by the current needs of the Service community. They are particularly relevant in today's high pressure military environment, where our contemporary veterans and serving personnel alike often experience different problems from the soldiers, sailors and airmen of earlier conflicts. Reservists too, heavily engaged in current operations, have equal call on our services. From the provision of Health and Social services, to supporting the ex-Service community; from running a confidential support line, to delivering holidays for children with additional needs. We cover a very broad spectrum of issues as you will see on What we do or download our general factsheet. We try to bring our solutions to the widest audience possible - anybody whose life has been touched by time in the Armed Forces. If you have a Service connection, then we can offer our support. It is a matter of pride that we spread our net as widely as possible and we will always try to respond to cases of genuine need, whether they are financial, practical or emotional.

For 125 years, SSAFA Forces Help has made an unfailing commitment to the men and women of Britain's Armed Forces, continually adapting to meet the changing needs of those who serve, those who used to serve and the families of both. The support of SSAFA Forces Help is as significant now as it ever has been. From their very first day of military service, we are here for our servicemen and women and the people they love. Because we believe that their bravery, dedication and commitment deserve a lifetime of support. Every day of the year SSAFA Forces Help provides vital support to our servicemen and women, past and present, and their families. But we can't do it without your help. In 2010 there are hundreds of different ways to get involved and make a real difference: Be a hero and raise £125 for SSAFA in any way you can think of as part of our Target125 initiative, Run your own Big SSAFA Quiz, hold your own Big Brew Up, or join us for our first ever Midnight March!

2010 is the 125th Anniversary of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) - Forces Help.

We help and support those who serve in the British Armed Forces, those who used to serve, and the families of both.  One day’s paid service is all that is needed to qualify for our assistance.

Since 1885, we have adapted to meet the changing needs of the Service community and their families.  Each year we help more than 50,000 people, providing them with a combination of practical, financial and emotional support.  Our continually evolving services are driven by their needs and we recognize that contemporary veterans and serving personnel alike often experience different problems from the soldiers, sailors and airmen of earlier conflicts.  Reservists too, heavily engaged in current operations, have equal call on our services.  

Every day, SSAFA Forces Help makes an immeasurable difference to the lives of servicemen and women and their families.  It is vital work, but we can only do it with your support.

28.08.10 I'm not able to participate in the Big Brew - sorry, this is due to health problems. My son is a Paratrooper and he will be going on his second visit soon to Afghanistan. My love and prayers are for his safety and that of ALL the serving soldiers.X
