Beating Bowel Cancer
Beating Bowel Cancer is a leading national charity for bowel cancer patients, working hard to save lives from the UK’s 2nd biggest cancer killer which claims 50 lives every day. They encourage people to communicate frankly about all aspects of this disease, and not to be embarrassed to talk about bottoms and bowels! The charity aims to improve bowel cancer awareness amongst both medical professionals and the general public, by providing authoritative information about the disease, symptoms and the treatment choices available. They also offer support and help to anyone affected by bowel cancer

My page:

Myself and Gary are running the Great North Run on Sunday 10th September in memory of our dear friend Sally Harling who died in Dec 16 after a very short illness of secondary cancer in the liver having had bowel cancer 3 years earlier.

I have been firm friends with Sally since meeting at my first Christmas party for Total Gas & Power back in Dec 2000 and we have shared so many laughs and fun times together.

The picture of us with Sally was taken at a friends wedding last September where we had a wonderful day and evening and was before fate dealt the cruel blow to her that the cancer had returned.  Sally has recently moved to Palma so this was the first time we had seen her in a few months and lots of giggles and dancing were had in true Sally Harling style.

We are running 13.1 miles in memory of Sally and to raise as much money as possible to fight this cruel disease. Please donate what you can.

Anyone who knows me will tell you running has never been my forte and until this year I have never ran more than the odd 5k.

Running 13.1 miles won't be easy but if I can have half the determination and not giving up attitude Sally had when dealing with cancer both times, then I know I can do this.

Sally will be laughing that she has finally got me runnning and thanks to her I don't think I will ever stop now.  Every time I think I run and think i can't do anymore, I think of what she went through, her infectious laugh, and how she stayed smiling and joking until the end.

I hope I can do her proud.

Thank you in advance for any donations.

Love from Susan & Gary
