Charity

The Daisy Garland
A family-run national children’s charity providing active support for children with drug-resistant epilepsy and their parents/carers. The charity was set up in memory of our daughter Daisy who tragically died at 6 years of age from SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in epilepsy patients). We provide NHS hospitals with ketogenic dietitians - a medically recognised and accepted way of treating drug resistant epilepsy. This diet is not widely available on the NHS due to lack of funding. We also provide grants for night-time breathing monitors to children with drug-resistant epilepsy.

Thank you for visiting my page!

I'm running the 2016 Great Manchester Run for The Daisy Garland, an amazin charity that was set up by the Garland family following the death of their daughter, Daisy, to a condition called SUDEP (Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy Patients). The Daisy Garland provides active support for children with drug-resistant epilepsy, including the provision of ketogenic dieticians in NHS hospitals. The ketogenic diet is a a medically accepted way to treat drug-resistant epilepsy and specially-trained ketogenic dieticians are few, and very costly.

So why have I chosen this charity? In 2014, our friends' daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy. Jessica was in her very first year at school at that time and her life, and the lives of her parents and older sister Amy have changed beyond all recognition. They have had fantastic support from The Daisy Garland and I want to do everything I can to help a charity that is making - and will continue to make - a massive difference not only to Jessica's ife, but the lives of other children whose lives are a constant struggle due to epilepsy.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

Thank you so very much for all your support and thank you for any donations.
