Sarka Climbs Kilimanjaro for BYHP

Why BYHP?

I have always wanted to do something for BYHP since I met the charity because I like what they are doing for young people. I am very passionate about developing young people and about support in growth. Not all young people are lucky enough to be able to study, have homes, and get moral support. These are however the most important factors that shape a young person and BYHP is helping such young people to overcome obstacles they may face. Which is amazing. That’s why BYHP.

Why Kilimanjaro?

It is a challenge. When I was young, I never believed I could climb a mountain like that. The thought of climbing Kili scrares me a bit due to altitude, as I know it is going to be difficult. It is the highest mountain of Africa and belongs amongst 7 of the highest mountains in the world. I want to climb it because I want to prove to myself anything is possible as long as we have the right mindset and don’t give in to the fear

As a young person I was scared of everything. I learnt in life that fear is something that can be overcome only by not giving in and being brave. I therefore learnt to feel it and do it anyway as the famous sentence goes. Or as Richard Branson, a business man who has inspired me, says: ‘Screw it let’s do it’
