Charity
The Whitehawk Inn, is a Brighton based, award winning charity, has been chosen as one of only six Official Local Charities for the 2012 Brighton Marathon. The Whitehawk Inn, current holder of The Argus Appeal’s ‘Charity of the Year ‘and Brighton & Hove Council’s ‘Best Community Initiative’ awards, works tirelessly to offer those residents of Brighton & Hove who have, for some reason, ‘lost their way’ or are ‘searching for a new direction’ every chance possible to find their new life. As a community led organisation, the charity’s dedicated and passionate workforce provide information and advice about learning and work, offering a range of support activities for adults. The Centre itself is a bright, local community hub that provides visitors and learners with an inspirational environment in which to spend time with people who genuinely want to help them to move forward. In just over a decade, The Whitehawk Inn has helped more than 7,400 people. 70% of whom live in an area of deprivation and 92% have known barriers to participation that result in social exclusion, poverty, low educational attainment and skill levels, poor work prospects, poor health and family breakdown. Inside just three years The Whitehawk Inn supported 200 people back to work and thus resulted in a reported improvement in their quality of life, including increased self-confidence, motivation and a feeling of being more connected to others in the community.

Scott Marshall's fundraising page
Scott is a true Brightonian, born and bred in the city (well if being born in Shoreham-by-Sea counts!). He is 41, fit and a good bet for completing the marathon, having completed the first two Brighton Marathons. He is engaged to Kerry with two twelve-year old boys (Luca and Edan) emptying his pockets of cash.
Scott is a former Director at Brighton & Hove City Council with 22 years experience in delivering the government’s economic regeneration and cultural agendas. Scott has delivered many successful projects in the city and assisted the football club to secure planning permission for Amex Stadium and more recently led negotiations on a land deal to secure American Express’ European headquarters, in Brighton.
He now runs ‘This is Regeneration Ltd’, which specialises in supporting the private and public sectors to work together to implement regeneration visions and plans.
Scott is passionate about Brighton & Hove and volunteered to run for the Whitehawk Inn, having known its Director, Frances Duncan for many years. Please give generously and cheer loudly on race day.
